Bhutan Hotels and Resorts Hotel Ugyenling
Hotel Ugyenling is the first Bhutanese owned deluxe hotel in the spiritual heartland of Bhutan, Bumthang – the valley often referred to as the Switzerland of Asia. Located in Choekor Valley, about 2 km outside of Jakar town, the hotel is located near Wangduecholling Palace, the birthplace of Bhutan’s first King.
The hotel combines traditional Bhutanese styling with modern open floor plans and high, almost-to-ceiling, windows in guest rooms. Guests can enjoy great views of the mountains, surrounding valleys and the Jakar Dzong, from the room balconies. Each of our beautifully designed 20 deluxe rooms comes with living rooms and wood burning stoves, Bhukari. Built in blend of traditional Bhutanese and western design, the rooms are well maintained with high ceiling and hardwood floors and walls, split into sleeping areas with comfortable beds and living area.
All our sttached bath and shower rooms have heated floors and lots of water. Room service and laundry service are available, and free wifi is accessible. Our business centre is connected with broadband internet and we have conference hall with a seating capacity of 40. The ground floor restuarant serves mouth-watering Continental, Chinese, Bhutanese and Indian food, in a spare ambience of stone columns and polished wood floors. The bar and lounge on the second level is well stocked with a variety of liquors, including the polular Red Panda beer made locally. The guest balcony, with its wicker chairs and couches, is another good place to chat with fellow guests. Traditional hot stone baths are available on request.
A 20 minute or so walk away is Jakar’s main market place – a prime place to interact with locals. Even closer is Wangduecholing Palace, originally built as a family residence of Jigme Namgyel, father of the first king and unifier of Bhutan. The central temple in its courtyard houses a museum with precious texts, textiles, murals, and sculptures. Rooms
